THE NAVY GEAR WEAR TEST

is primarily used to demonstrate the impact on industrial gear oils. It’s a mechanical procedure comprised of steel and brass gears that mesh while submerged in a sample lubricant. As a comparative test, it provides one a direct analysis between lubricants and their ability to protect against wear. By measuring brass gear weight loss at each phase of load, one can determine the larger friction coefficient. Friction is a direct indicator of unnecessary loss of energy, thus it provides insight into the lubricant’s ability to reduce wear on meshing metal components.

Results
Noted an 87% decrease in wear metals when using NORDE® Products with a Premier Brand Synthetic Gear Oil.
Noted an 73% decrease in wear metals when using NORDE® Products with a Premier Brand Mineral Hydraulic Oil.
